This video was particularly touching for me as I've been to Howletts and Port Lympne, the two Aspinall Foundation wildlife parks in Kent, UK and seen the great work they're doing in animal conservation. Also to get to be so very close to the animals, particularly the gorillas who are at times just on the other side of the glass is a n extremely touching, if not somewhat voyeuristic, experience.
2. Unusual animal friendships. Why is it so touching? I don't know really, but I looked at these pictures and felt my heart melting. Maybe it's the warmth or the love or the acceptance despite such extreme differences...maybe animals are just damn cute... Hope these pics give you as much of a pick me up as they did me!!
Here are some more beautiful pictures...some the same many new. The mammalian link we know...but here we have birds and reptiles joining in the love sessions...but then again I shouldn't be surprised ....my turtle is quite the socialite! More animal buddies.
3. Foxes are such handsome creatures...particularly when photographed in stark contrast to the Siberian snow...
4. The freedom of being a Mobula Ray....
5. The way my turtle greets me every time I approach his tank has made me realise there's a lot more to reptiles than I'd previously thought...I mean one can't be prejudiced just because they lack maternal instincts...(leaving their eggs in a big hole and moseying on off...) and then they can be pretty aesthetically pleasing too as displayed here: Cute reptiles! And this link doesn't even have the majestic iguanas who skuttle around my compound, always causing me to stop and stare, marvelling at their almost incongruous prehistoric form, realisig they have probably been around in that form for a very, very long time.
